Christmas with a Heart

We invite the San Diego Community to be a part of the Heart of Christmas at Om Center for Spiritual Living.  Every donation makes a difference.

Christmas 2011

Community Giving and Sponsorship

This year we have decided to participate in 2 different community programs.  The “ We Dare to Care – Serving Those in Need” program and Christmas Day Luncheonette at the Sara Frances Hometel for the Elderly.

“We Dare to Care” is a grass roots Community Outreach Program to Feed the Homeless in San Diego.  Every month volunteers from Om Center for Spiritual Living come together to assist in making lunches for the homeless.  Our Christmas project will be to assist in purchasing goods that will assist in the production of the monthly programs.  Below is a list of items we can provide:

*Miracle whip or mayonnaise

*Peanut butter

*Jelly

*Chips (such as 50 count box, etc.)

*Bottled water

*Sandwich bags

*Napkins

*Brown lunch bags

*Paper/Styrofoam bowls (used to serve the hot meals)

*Plastic Forks

*Plastic grocery bags to be used for distribution of the snacks that go with the hot meals

If you would like to support this program, simply purchase NEW goods and put it under our Christmas Tree.  We will deliver it to ““We Dare to Care”  right after Christmas.  If you would like to donate cash, please make your checks out to “We Dare To Care” and we will deliver your gifts.

Christmas Day Luncheonette

at the  Sara Frances Hometel  for the Elderly.

This year we would like to touch the hearts of those who live downtown in a community that is sometimes ignored.  This includes older men and women who live by themselves and are in many cases left alone during the holidays.  This year we would like to provide this community with a luncheonette and assortment of small gifts they could use during the cold season.  Additionally, bring some cheer and smiles on Christmas Day.  If you would like to participate with this project see Rev. Suzette and/or Candace as we are forming a committee to organize all the details.  In addition to the luncheonette we would like to start gathering up NEW items such as: socks, gloves, scarves, candy, and small things we could give awayWe want to collect at least 100 different items that be used by both men and women.  These can be left under the Christmas Tree.  If you have any ideas please bring them forward.  Rev. Suzette’s number is 858.213.7061 and Candace’s number is 805.886.6959.

THANK YOU OM CENTER FOR SPIRITUAL LIVING, I AM PROUD THAT WE CAN BE OF SUPPORT TO THE LARGER COMMUNITY IN A WAY THAT WILL SURELY TOUCH MANY HEARTS!

Much Love,     Rev. Suzette Wehunt

UCSL and RSI Important Announcement from Rev. Dr. Clancy

Dear Minister friends,

I just returned today from attending one day of RSI Asilomar.  I was blessed to witness the delegates leaving Congress after the final votes for the name change from RSI to International Centers for Spiritual Living.

What a joy to see the faces of those who have been part of this history-making event.  One of the delegates reported that only one church was absent from the roll call (although present on campus), and there were less than 10 “no” votes!

We then heard from three evening speakers, one of whom has been in the movement since he was 23 years old, and is guardian of some of the Holmes memorabilia gifted to him from another of the original people who worked with Ernie.  (He is still reminding people of the importance of “history”…)

The other two speakers were speaking in celebration of a new day, a new perspective and the joy of moving toward an outer demonstration of the unity that both “siblings” teach.

In addition to the Resolution #1 that changed the name, Resolution #2 (after many Whereas statements) reads as follows, and I quote from the “Celebrating Our Spiritual Magnificence Program Guide” pg. 5-9…  Resolved, That the President and Board of Directors for Religious Science International enter into an agreement with the United Centers for Spiritual Living to integrate the two organizations into one, and that every department within RSI make every effort to successfully integrate the two organizations within a reasonable amount of time and that we lay aside the differences that have kept the two organizations apart and reveal a new era of cooperation, discovery and growth by celebrating the unity which our founder, Dr. Ernest Holmes, desired us to achieve.

This last sentence has brought tears to my eyes.  Let us celebrate with great gratitude for the thousands of hours of meditation, prayer, dialogue and downright hard work that has brought us to this day!

Incidentally, RSI holds their business meetings at Asilomar, so if this was not brought to a vote this week, then it would be many months before all the delegates would be together again to address the Resolutions.

            In love, peace and joy,

            Rev. Dr. Clancy Blakemore

(at UCSL Asilomar this coming week!)

Accepting Harmony as a Way to See God Always

One of my favorite books is, Your Needs Met, by Jack and Cornelia Addington.  I often refer to the many prayers when I need to get re-centered in a thought or circumstances.  Once I have read the TRUTH, my soul is still again.  Today I want to bring to us the idea of accepting Harmony as a way to see God in our lives.

If you have this book, simply turn to the page which uses the heading, Harmony as it's title, page 76.  If not, then read below.

I AM IN HARMONY WITH TRUTH

Quote:

"God was in Christ (within) reconciling the world until himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them: ... we pray you in Christ's stead, be ye reconciled to God."  II Cor. 5:19,20

Prayer:

God is Love, within my heart, reconciling my world unto His own harmonious nature.  No matter how many mistakes I have made they are not held against me when I bring myself into harmony with God's true nature which is Love and Truth.  God is Love, individualized as the Christ within me, ever drawing me into perfect harmony with His own perfection.  The moment I turn to this Perfection, Truth is brought into my life and affairs.  There is a clarification in the situation at hand.  Immediately, there comes a cleansing within my own thinking,  an adjustment in personal relationships and a revitalizing of my physical body.  To be reconciled is "to be in harmony with".  To be reconciled with God within is the answer to every problem.  Once I have put myself in harmony with Peace, there is Peace in my world.  Having put myself in harmony with Love, the balance of Love is restored in my life.  As I put myself in Harmony with the Wholeness of God's Life, this Wholeness is made manifest as health of mind and body.  I am forever in Harmony with the Truth that sets me free.

                    And so it is.

The Sacredness of Om

Om is found throughout India not only in temples, but also on walls, trucks and doors reminding those who see it that All is One Consciousness.

This Sunday we discussed how we create Oneness inside and in our world.  A comment was made that the word "Om" is that vibration inside us, when we go inside to the eternal vibration we are creating at a deep level of oneness within.  This vibration is then reflected out into our world as a sense of Peace.

The Om Poster I have says, "Om is eternal Existence, Consciousness and Bliss.  This entire universe, including our body, mind and senses, is its manifestation, extension and expansion.  Past, present and future all are nothing but Om.  This was true in the past, it is true in the present and it will be true in the future.  And whatever else exists beyond the three divisions of time, that also is indeed Om."

What is the essence of Om?  It is the eternal vibration of awareness.

Come be a part of our program and experience Om in your life.  Our next Gathering is July 27th,  at 11:00 AM.
