Animal Blessing and Adopt-a-thon Blog
As The facilitator of the Animal Ministry here at Om, The founder of Kindred Spirit Animal Ministry and the League of Animal Ministers and also coordinater of the collective group event Annual Blessing and Adopt-a-thon I want to take this space to thank all the other spiritual centers that come together once a year to support the humane care of the animals in working together in making this yearly event a success.  Through the efforts of all these centers in getting the word out our intention is  to make it a day of realization for all the animals in attendence just waiting for their person to come along and provide that forever home that they deserve.  Due to the economic crisis many people have lost their homes and their ability to care for their furry children  We hope to ease their concerns by making this a day in which they can rest assured that their pets will find another loving home, Please adopt from a shelter. Never buy an animal from a pet shop.  May of these shops are just storefronts for puppy mills.  Help to stop by this practice by supporting our local humane society and rescue agencies.

Chief Seattle said.
Humankind has not woven the web of life.
We are but one thread within it.
Whatever we do to the web, we do to ourselves.
All things are bound together.
All things connect.

  MISSION STATEMENT

Kindred Spirit Animal Project is Dedicated to the Increasing Awareness of the Importance of Humane, Compassionate and Loving Stewardship of Our Animal Companions through  Education and Advocacy.

Celebrate the Life of Your Loving Companions
LOSS IS NEVER EASY.
Ways to help yourself:
Give yourself permission to grieve.
Grieve on your own personal schedule with the understanding that there is no time frame
fo grieving.
Seek comfort from people who share a love of animals.
Get a referral for a therapist, if you think that talking to a professional counselor might
help you. Try to find one who understands the human-animal bond and the loss of that
special bond.
Consider another pet only when you feel ready

MEET AUSTIN ARMANI
INTRODUCING AUSTIN ARMANI our newly inducted service animal and mascot of the Kindred Spirit Animal Ministry.  He is our second practitioner with paws and is taking his new job very seriously.  He is just the beginning of a team of animals to visit those who need to feel the unconditional love and joy that they bring. Austins first visit to Coronado Villa's was a great success.  All of the nurses and patients just loved him and he brought smiles to everyone.  His visit was requested by one of our members and it turned out to be such an amazing experience for all who saw and got a chance to pet him.  If you have members of your family who could benefit by a visit please call and place a request.

We are a non-profit therefore are bound not to take a political stance for or against any particular candidates for office nor cannot lobby for any particular issue.  We can however post information regarding any issuse that endanger the lives of our animals or support their well being.  You will always be directed to the particular website about that and are encouraged to decided for yourself what you feel called to do. We do not promote or intend to try to influence anyones opinions.  We are for equality in all areas whether it be the humane treatment of animals, or the human right to be treated equally.

How We Came to Be Through a process of visioning and prayer five of us got together and came up with some ideas about what this would look like and what it would be.  Not long after the visioning an opportunity to plan a animal blessing came about.  From there it just took flight.

It has long been my dream to be able to act as a conduit to the greater SOM comunities through full filled venues and events that are solely focus on one thing--The care treatment and love of our pets.

Ghandi once said The greatness of a nation and its moral progress can be judged by the way its animals are treated.

All are One and as such it is our responsibility to speak for those who cannot speak for themselves.  There are the lessons of Unconditional Love, Loyalty and Joy that the animals have not forgotten.  They are that.

Cats are the reminder that we are indeed deserving of the best.  The teach us how to treat them and they do not accept anything but what they choose.  The absolutely know they are God's Gift to the World.  They are here to remind us of our own beauty and place in the world as God's Gift to all that we come in contact with.  This is the Diva Mindy,  Her head is held in a regal way.  Are we not as Regal?  A phote sent to us by Miguel Zulueta from Vision Center For Spiritual Living.  She rules.

Pets 10 Commandments

PET'S TEN COMMANDMENTS. ........

1. My life is likely to last 10-15 years.  Any separation from you is likely to be painful.

2. Give me time to understand what you want of me.

3. Place your trust in me.  It is crucial for my well-being.

4. Don't be angry with me for long and don't lock me up as punishment.  You have your work, your friends, your entertainment, but I have only you.

5. Talk to me.  Even if I don't understand your words, I do understand your voice when speaking to me.

6. Be aware that however you treat me, I will never forget it.

7. Before you hit me, before you strike me, remember that I could hurt you, and yet, I choose not to bite   you.

8. Before you scold me for being lazy or uncooperative, ask yourself if something might be bothering me.  Perhaps I'm not getting the right food, I have been in the sun too long, or my heart might be getting old or weak.

9. Please take care of me when I grow old.  You too, will grow old.

10. On the ultimate difficult journey, go with me please.  Never say you can't bear to watch.  Don't make me face this alone.  Everything is easier for me if you are there, because I love you so.

Take a moment today to thank God for your pets.  Enjoy and take good care of them.  Life would be a much duller, less joyful experience without God's critters

We do not have to wait for Heaven, to be surrounded by hope, love, and joyfulness.  It is here on earth and has four legs!
